Royal Enfield Meteor 350 : Cruise Easy

Spread the love

On 6th November 2020, Royal Enfield launched the special 350 CC motorcycle, The Royal Enfield Meteor 350. This is the successor of one of the most popular motorcycle, the Royal Enfield Thunderbird.

The Event

This is the unique event where motorcycle launch was done in Online Live Stream. This is now the way adopted by every manufacturer in all segments due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The event started with Mr. Siddhartha Lal, (MD, Eicher Motors Ltd.) riding the motorcycle in County side at Britain.

He provided details on how cruising is the main driving factor while designing the Enfield motorcycles. The cruiser was always the ‘wild-child’ of the Royal Enfield portfolio. A product that could extend beyond people’s image of what a Royal Enfield motorcycle can be. The first of a kind was the Lightning with an immensely powerful 535cc engine in the 1990s, and it immediately became the biggest and baddest motorcycle in India.

In 2002, Royal Enfield launched the Thunderbird, the longest running No. 1 cruiser in India, which defined the segment for nearly two decades. With a 500cc UCE engine with electronic fuel injection and a 20-litre tank upgrade in 2012, the Thunderbird grew in stature and continued to win the hearts of a growing number of evolved cruiser motorcycle fans in India. The Thunderbird X, launched in 2018, was the last chapter in the cruiser’s history. Conceived as a ‘twin’ to the standard Thunderbird, the TBX, as it was popularly known, shared the physical form and factor with its predecessor but was built to have a more aggressive, urban and youthful soul.

But with 2020, Eicher Motors now decided to bid adieu to Thunderbird and make a way for the Meteor 350, all-new highway cruiser. It is aimed at more Bulletish look with maintaining Thunderbird’s Cruiser experience to give an effortless, enjoyable, engaging journey for hours. Mr. Vinod K Dasari (CEO, Royal Enfield) gave walkthrough of Chennai plant and Technical Center which is also Headquarter of Royal Enfield.

Royal Enfield Meteor 350

At the heart of the Meteor is the all-new air-oil cooled, 349cc, SOHC engine with a characteristic long stroke and electronic fuel injection system producing smooth tractable power & plenty of bottom-end torque.

The all-new chassis is stronger, stiffer and more durable and designed for straight-line stability, cornering and maneuverability without compromising on comfort. The main highlight of the new Meteor is the Tripper Navigator, the first in any Royal Enfield. Tripper is a sophisticated navigation solution, that indicates directions through an intuitive display system with an additional USB charging port on the motorcycle. It is powered by Google Maps and the Royal Enfield App that connects smartphones with the motorcycle through Bluetooth, interesting right!

Looking at this, we can clearly say that Royal Enfield is acting on customer feedback and also learning from the after market customizations most of the bullet owners do. This we saw with the multiple color options Royal Enfield started providing out-of-the-box with the Thunderbird series. And this legacy continues with the Meteor.
