ASUS Zenfone 9 with in-built 6-Axis Gimbal Launched
On 28th July, 2022, ASUS launched the next generation of their flagship mobile, Zenfone 9. The ASUS Zenfone 9 launch event was virtual like the previous event and was live on their official ASUS YouTube Channel.
In the Box
In the box, unlike other flagship mobile providers, you get a 30W fast charger, charging cable, documentation, a mobile case, and ASUS Zenfone 9 mobile itself. The standard configuration for this mobile is 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
Design & Build
The ASUS Zenfone 9 has a rectangular design unlike its previous version i.e. Zenfone 8. This gives more space for the internal as per ASUS.
It retains the weight and size of Zenfone 8, i.e. 5.9″ Samsung AMOLED display and 169g weight. The display has a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, thus it can handle a good amount of strokes. Max brightness it can provide is approx 1100nits with 445ppi and have a 120Hz refresh rate. Please note this mobile is IP68 certified, thus you no need to worry about water splash or dust.
But as it’s now rectangular in shape, it can host a higher capacity battery, and thus now Zenfone 9 gets a 4300mAh battery which is 7.5% bigger than the previous version. This battery gives approx 8.1 hrs of gaming or 18.5 hrs of video playback or 12.4 hrs of social media time. This is an average 10% increase compared to Zenfone 8. Also, it houses a bigger camera now, which is 40% bigger.
At the back, you get grippy textured material, which is anti-fingerprint and anti-smug. ASUS has not mentioned anything about the material used for the back. As mentioned previously, ASUS has provided a case out-of-the-box. You also get a fingerprint scanner at the side, on the power button. ASUS claims that this is the best position for a fingerprint scanner ergonomically. This power button along with a fingerprint scanner will also function as a quick access button, i.e. you can access Google Assistance, Voice to text, access your notifications, and for some apps can manage even a few menus as well.
Talking about the processor, the ASUS Zenfone 9 comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor which is a performance power-house built on a 4nm chipset. Also with this processor, the gaming experience will be very smooth on this mobile. You can enjoy all the latest games with good FPS and no visible lag at all.
To support this latest high-performance processor, the mobile must have a state-of-the-art cooling system and yes ASUS has one. With this new mobile, ASUS has new Vapor Chamber cooling technology, which provides a 230% large attach area as compared to the previous generation and thus high battery life and performance from Zenfone 9.

Camera Assembly
Nowadays, smartphone cameras are as good as DSLRs, thanks to the advanced technologies evolved in recent times. And to this, ASUS Zenfone 9 is no exception. At the back, it houses a dual camera setup, with a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera and a 12MP Sony IMX363 Ultra-Wide camera with 113-degree FOV and a 4cm Macro shot. In front, you get a 12MP Sony IMX663 auto-focus selfie camera.
The Sony IMX766 lens comes with a bigger sensor, thus more light and a larger pixel size area. This ensures great picture quality and accurate capture.
The main highlight of the Zenfone 9 dual camera setup is that it hosts a 6-axis hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer, which will ensure you will get stable videos and photos even if you have shaky hands.
The camera can shoot 4K videos at 60fps and also supports slow motion FHD videos at 240fps. As normal, you get all standard shooting modes like panorama, portrait, etc. as well. But this time ASUS has added a new Light Trail mode which is fabulous.
Sound System
Zenfone 9 comes with powerful dual stereo speakers which provide high-quality sound. To get top-notch sound, ASUS has partnered with audio expert DIRAC and thus maximizes the perceived volume and sound quality. It’s specifically tuned to how our ear captures and our mind processes audio. It comes with 10 band equalizers and 4 sound scenarios. You can even have your custom equalizers as per your liking.
In addition to this, ASUS has retained the 3.5mm audio jack, thus you can use your existing high-quality wired headsets without any issue. It comes with 2 nano sim slots both supporting 5G.
Pricing and Availability
Overall, the ASUS Zenfone 9 is a great mobile phone. It ticks almost all the boxes for a flagship device. This device will be available shortly worldwide at starting price of 799 Euro. There is no official announcement yet from ASUS about its Indian pricing, but we can expect it to be available at around ₹64,000/-.
