Build

It comes with all metal Unibody design with aluminium chassis which feels premium. Finish is smooth and resistant to finger prints. It has profile of 16mm and weight is 1.25kg which makes it portable Notebook. And yes, Lid can be opened with one hand. Heat vents are at bottom of the laptop. Top screen bezel houses 720p Webcam which supports Windows Hello which is good because this laptop do not offer finger print scanner.

Battery

It offers 56Wh battery which supports fast charging & expected to give 9 to 10 hours of battery life.

Display

Main USP of this laptop is its 13” screen with 16:10 aspect ratio. Display is glossy, crisp, color accurate with 100% sRGB & 300 nits. Screen to body ratio is 90% & bezels are super thin.

Performance

With Ryzen 4600U processor, 8 GB of RAM (non-upgradable) and 512GB of SSD (upgradable up-to 1TB) performance is breeze. Cine-bench R15 shows score of 1300 points which is close to Intel i7 10th Gen processor, wow!!! Day-to-day tasks are child’s play for this laptop. This super performance is also complemented with integrated Radeon Vega 6 GPU. Hence gaming is quite good on this laptop but no AAA titles, normal Image and Video editing is also possible.

Keyboard & Track-pad

Keyboard is backlit, well built with good key travel and feedback. Keys are fairly big as compared to rest of the laptops in same segment which is plus point. Track-pad offered is slightly bigger than the average Windows laptop track-pad & supports all windows gestures. Overall good keyboard for marathon typists.

Ports

Ideapad S540 13 Pro comes with 2 USB type C port which supports charging, Video output and data transfer. Apart from this, it offers only single USB type A 3.1 port and a 3.5 mm audio jack, thus very limited port options. Speakers are at the bottom of the laptop which are descent.

Overall this is very well built robust laptop which offers good performance with great display.

But here comes the bad news, it’s not yet released in India, also no updates yet by Lenovo on expected launch date. In Singapore it cost around SGD $1200.
