Build & Design
The laptop is light weight with its magnesium aluminum build. It weight just 1.19 kg, which makes it one of the lightest 14″ laptop in market. At bottom it have multiple air vents for air intake and rubber pads for firm grip. Exhaust vents are located at the front side of chassis below display, hence with extended use, screen bottom and front of keyboard may feel hot. Screen hinges are very stiff, hence one hand lid opening is not possible. Although screen can be tilted up-to 180 degrees.
Even with such light & thin profile, Acer has not made compromises with port availability. It comes with 1 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.1, 1 USB Type C (Thunderbolt 3), 3.6 mm audio jack & 1 HDMI Port.
Display
Acer Swift 3 comes with 14″ Full HD LED Backlit Comfy-View IPS Display with 16:9 aspect ratio with 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. Display comes with very narrow bezels on three sides which gives it 84% screen-to-body ratio. Viewing angles are good but it comes with around 250 nits of brightness. No issue with indoor use of laptop but during outdoor use, screen visibility may take hit due to its low nits count. Screen is 54% sRGB color accurate, no issue for normal usage but Content Creator should look else where if color accuracy is must. For Office or personal usage, no issue with screen.
Keyboard & Touchpad
It offers a backlit keyboard with decent key travel. Long hours of typing on this keyboard should not be an issue. The trackpad is equipped with Windows precision drivers, with no issue with clicks or Windows Gestures.
Performance
The Intel Core i5 10th Gen processor with 8 GB of RAM along with 512 GB SSD makes this laptop buttery smooth. No issues with day-to-day normal tasks like Web-Browsing, YouTube, Netflix, MS Office Stuff, or light gaming. Multitasking is also smooth on this laptop, it can handle 15+ Chrome tabs, 4K YouTube Video playback, and MS Office Stuff in parallel without showing any lag. But this has one downside as well, due to the Intel processor, heat dissipation is high and hence you will immediately see that fans will kick in and the keyboard top will feel warmer. Hence for extended high power demanding activities, the use of a good Cooling pad like TopMate C5 is recommended. Light gaming is also possible, thanks to the dedicated MX250 graphics card. The embedded fingerprint reader makes it easy to log in securely without entering a password.
Speakers
Like most of the other Windows laptops, the speakers on Acer Swift 3 are not that great. Use of good headphones like JBL or external speakers like boAt Stone 650 is recommended, although for normal use default speakers should be ok.
Battery Life
This laptop comes with a 48WHr 4200 mAh Li-ion battery. Acer claims all-day battery life with this laptop. With normal day-to-day use, it should last up to 8 hours.
Overall
Acer Swift 3 (2020) overall is a very good laptop for personal use, light gaming, and as a professional buddy, considering its price range. So you can definitely go for it, but as mentioned previously, it’s not the machine for content creation.
Pricing
It’s available at a Price range of ₹ 64,990/- & ₹ 68,990/- as the price of this laptop keeps on fluctuating due to high demand.
